PUK President expresses his condolences over death of prominent Kurdish folklore artist

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani on Saturday expressed his condolences over the death of Kurdish folklore artist star Shkur Khayat.

Kirkuk-born Khayat, 80, died overnight in the city of Kirkuk due to an illness. He was laid to rest earlier today.

Khayat was a Kurdish folklore singer. He was widely known for the service that he offered to enrich the Kurdish singing art.

In a message, PUK’s Talabani extended his condolences to Khayat’s family.

“His service that Khayat made to the Kurdish art and culture will be always remembered,” Talabani said.
