SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Despite finishing his prison sentence journalist Guhadar Zebari has not been released yet, Esta Media Network report said on Thursday.
Zebari was set to be released from Erbil prison on Wednesday upon finishing his prison sentence.
Last night, the security forces of Erbil prevented Zebari’s family to hold a press conference in order to brief the public regarding the situation of their son, according to the reporter.
On February 16, 2021, a criminal court in the Kurdistan Region sentenced journalist Guhdar Zebari to six years imprisonment.
Zebari was imprisoned on alleged charges of destabilizing the security and stability of the Kurdistan region. He was first arrested by Kurdish security forces in October 2020 in Duhok.
