SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Republic of Italy extended its support to the Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) forces on Wednesday, according to a statement.
A high-ranking Italian Military delegation led by the commander of the Italian special forces in Baghdad Col. Marco Juliani made a visit to the CTG headquarters in Sulaimani earlier yesterday.
The Italian military delegation met with CTG director-general Wahab Halabjai, a statement released by the CTG read.
“During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest security developments and measures to eradicate terrorism in the region,” the statement said.
In the meantime, “the Italian special forces reaffirmed their forces to the CTG directorate, including its commanders in the frame of the Global Coalition to combat terror.”
Meanwhile, the CTG director-general extended his words of gratitude for the role of the Italian forces in supporting the Kurdistan forces, especially the Counter-Terrorism forces.
