SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Sulaimani authorities on Wednesday inaugurated the biggest pediatric intensive care unit in Iraq in the City’s public pediatric hospital.
Speaking on the importance of opening the biggest pediatric intensive care unit, Sabah Hawrami, the general director of Sulaimani Health stated that “it helps to reduce the burden and the costly staying of families whose children are admitted to the private hospital.”
“Especially for the families whose children have to stay longer in the intensive care unit longer than usual,” he added.
The pediatric intensive care unit in Sulaimani City is currently ready to receive patients, according to Hawrami’s words.
He also pointed out that every single Iraqi province suffers from the lack of a pediatric intensive care unit, forcing families to admit their ill children to private hospitals which is costly, and the price per one night of staying starts from 350$ to 1800$.
In the meantime, Hawrami extended his words of gratitude to the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Talabani, for funding the staff of the hospital in the pediatric intensive care unit.
“One of our biggest problems was human resources,” he said.
