SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The state-owned Anadolu News Agency reported that Turkey on Friday “neutralized” a senior member of the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, Kurdistan Region.

PKK member “Yilmaz Bayram”, codenamed “Agit Gever”, was “neutralized” by the Turkish intelligence organization (MIT), Anadolu reported citing local sources as saying.

Bayram worked as the group’s logistic operative. He was responsible for providing weapons and ammunition, according to the report.

Turkey uses the “neutralize” term for targets who have been killed or wounded.

The PKK launched an insurgency against the Turkish state in 1984 and more than 40,000 people have been killed in the ensuing conflict. The PKK is regarded as a “terrorist” group by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.
