SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Local officials in Sulaimani raised the alarm that the traffic accidents in the province have surged, calling on drivers to avoid reckless driving.
At least sixteen casualties have been reported during the past three days amid different horrific traffic accidents, according to Bahman Abdullah, the spokesman for Sulaimani Traffic police.
“Five dead and eleven injured as a result,” he said in a press briefing.
Abdullah also noted that the accidents are mainly triggered either by reckless driving and violating traffic instructions or drivers consuming liquor.
He also warned that the situation might worsen and the province would witness further traffic accidents if the government and Interior Ministry plans fail to be implemented.
