SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq on Sunday announced it will probe the death of two of its citizens on the Turkish-Bulgarian border.

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf said that his country is in touch with the Bulgarian authorities to probe the death of two Iraqi citizens.

According to Sahaf’s words, the Iraqis were illegal migrants and died en route to Europe after crossing Turkey.

He also stated that the Iraqi embassy in Bulgaria has sent the consul to the scene of the incident, the city of Burgas, Bulgaria.

The Iraqi officials want to coordinate with the border police and find out the causes of the incident, and facilitate the procedures for their repatriation, he said.
