SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President asked Iraq’s Prime Minister to not combine the Kurdistan Region’s federal budget share with disputes between Erbil and Baghdad.
Last Monday, PUK President Bafel Talabani met with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani in Baghdad to discuss the obstacles in the country’s pollical process, as well as matters related to the Kurdistan Region.
Saadi Ahmed Pira, a member of the PUK politburo on Friday revealed that discussions between Talabani and Sudani included the Kurdistan Region’s share in the federal budget.
They also shed light on the salaries of the civil servants in the Region, according to Pira’s words.
He further added that Talabani asked Sudani to not combine the Kurdish civil servants’ salaries with political disputes between Erbil and Baghdad.
“Neither the Kurdistan Region people nor the civil servants should be punished,” Talabani told the Prime Minister.
“It’s a genuine right of the civil servants to receive their salaries on time,” Talabani said.
In the meantime, Pira also stated that the Prime Minister pledged Talabani to send the salaries of the Region’s civil servants under any circumstances.
