SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Tuesday strongly stressed enduring his party’s efforts until a lasting agreement in Baghdad that preserves the Kurdish people’s rights.
Talabani met with Iraq’s Hikma movement leader, Ammar al-Hakim, amid his days-long visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to discuss issues and obstacles in the political process.
In his meeting with Hakim, the two sides discussed improving the bilateral ties, as well as expanding coordination for the sake of fulfilling the high interests, according to the readout of the meeting released by Talabani’s office.
Iraq’s political situation, resolving Erbil-Baghdad issues, and committing to a real partnership were also discussed by the two leaders.
In the meantime, Talabani stated that “PUK’s policy and its unchanging strategy will continue until reaching a lasting agreement that preserves the rights of the Kurdish people.”
PUK’s Talabani who is in Baghdad has carried out multiple vital meetings with senior Iraqi officials and leaders, including the Prime Minister and the Parliamentary Speaker since he launched his diplomatic journey on Monday.
