SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Tuesday shared his “deepest” congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
“I hope this holy feast brings peace and joy and marks the end of the quarrels and the beginning of a new stage of harmony and brotherhood, together in a diverse Kurdistan to live a tranquil life away from violence and extremism,” Talabani said in a statement.
Talabani also stressed prevailing the culture of love and happiness in Kurdish society, calling for disallowing the rise of extremism, according to the statement.
“We should not allow extremism to replace moderation,” he said.
In the meantime, Talabani in the congratulatory statement urged unity as the sole way to strengthen Kurdistan and preserve high interests.
“Politically speaking, we must make this holy occasion a foundation for overcoming the obstacles and delivering the wonderful news of permanent unity at both internal and external spheres to our people.”
