PUK President receives newly-appointed Iranian Consul General to Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Tuesday received the newly-appointed Iranian Consul General to Sulaimani City, highlighting Kurdistan-Iran bilateral ties.

“In the meeting, enhancing Kurdistan-Iran relations, as well as coordination, particularly in terms of economy, were discussed,” a readout of the meeting released by Talabani’s office said.

In the meantime, “they stressed expanding trading exchanges by providing further opportunities,” according to the statement.

The statement added that “Talabani extended his congratulations to the Iranian diplomat, wishing him to collaborate to strengthen the Kurdistan Region’s economic infrastructure, and reiterated his support.”
