Deputy Prime Minister voices concern over strained relationships between parties

SULAIMANI (ESTA) —Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister on Tuesday voiced concern over strained relationships between the political parties, urging unity within the Kurdish house.

Earlier yesterday, the Deputy Prime Minister received French Consul General to the Kurdistan Region Olivier Decottiginies, in Erbil, where they highlighted the political infighting within the Kurdish house, a statement released by his office read.

“I’m not happy with the current situation of the Kurdistan Region,” Talabani said, according to the statement.

“The inter-party relationships should have been improved,” He added. “Today, more than ever the Kurds need unity. The challenges before the Kurdistan Region are colossal.”

The Deputy Prime Minister indicated that “There is still time to consider the threats.”

In the meantime, the two sides also discussed the relationships between Erbil and Baghdad. “What’s currently going on in Baghdad is reflecting the internal situation of the Kurdistan Region,” Talabani said.

“Before anything, we should re-organize our [Kurdish] house, then we will be able to play a more effective role to defend our rights and the constitutional entitlements.”

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the political parties to review their stances and positions.
