SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani shared his warmest congratulations on the founding anniversary of the PUK on Thursday.
“On the occasion of the 48th PUK’s foundation anniversary, I extend my warmest congratulations to the beloved people of Kurdistan and families of martyrs and strugglers,” Talabani said in a statement.
“Today marks renewing our commitment towards the blood of martyrs as well as the PUK’s unwavering principles which comprise peace, democracy, human rights, and self-determination,” He added.
Talabani urged unity to overcome challenges facing the Kurdistan Region, saying “Kurdistan is navigating through a sensitive stage and there are big challenges ahead of us.”
“No other paths will guarantee Kurdistan’s survival except for unity and harmony,” Talabani stressed, according to the statement
Talabani further underscored compromise and dialogue to be the foundation to address the disagreements and far from “self-imposition” to lead Kurdistan toward a brighter future.
“Our big concern must be the people’s prosperity not party or personal interests.”
Talabani highlighted that the PUK has been always the “initiator” for coordination and cooperation for the sake of serving the Kurdish people, adding that “We have an absolute belief in joint work in order to succeed in the political process and overcome the problems.”
“We should leave the disagreements in the past,” He said. “The PUK has always called for united discourse and cooperation. Our strength is linked to our unity,” He added.
The leader further added that “the PUK with its partners in Iraq will continue to pass the obstacles. We want to build a brighter future on the foundation of real partnership and deepening the spirit of coexistence.”
