Asayish arrests two for smuggling at least 16 Pakistanis

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s Security Service (Asayish) on Saturday announced it had arrested two human smugglers over a people-smuggling plot from Pakistan.

At least 16 Pakistani nationals have been arrested by Asayish in Sulaimani’s Darbandikhan, who had entered the Kurdistan Region illegally, Asayish said.

The migrants intended to flee to the southern province of Iraq guided by two smugglers who are currently in custody charged with smuggling people from Pakistan.

Asayish underscored that the investigations are still ongoing.
