Encounters broke out again between Kurds of Kirkuk and the Iraqi army

SULAIMANI – (ESTA) Three days ago Iraqi army come to Newroz neighborhood in Kirkuk and took controlled those houses were empty or under renovation and asked the Kurdish residents to leave the area.

Following that action, tonight encounter broke out again between Kurdish residents and Iraqi army, “Iraqi army brings some Arab families and wants to shift Kurdish families there, they force Kurdish families to leave their houses” one of the young Kurdish protesters told Esta.

After encounters between the residents of Newroz neighborhood, Khalid Shwani, Justice Minister said, “We have been on the line since yesterday and I have informed Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani about the violations in the Newroz neighborhood of Kirkuk”.

Also, Kirkuk police director, Kawa Gharib said in a news conference that “the Iraqi army forces have decided to withdraw from the Newroz neighborhood of Kirkuk and the agreements will be implemented as they are”.
