U.S. welcomes return of PUK Ministers to KRG

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The United States on Monday welcomed the return of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) ministers to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

U.S. Consulate General Erbil welcomes the return of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (#PUK) ministers to Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Council of Ministers after reaching agreement with the Kurdistan Democratic (#KDP) on critical issues,” it said.

“We look forward to close collaboration with the Kurdistan Regional Government (#KRG) on our shared priorities to further this progress,” it added.

The PUK ministerial team led by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani had boycotted the KRG and stopped to attend the Council of Ministers’ meetings during the past few months over disagreements with the KDP.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani on Sunday along with his team returned to the first KRG meetings after months of tense relationships with the KDP.

Yesterday’s KRG meeting highlighted restarting Kurdish crude exports and reorganization of the Kurdistan Region’s finance.
