SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region Deputy Premier Qubad Talabani on Thursday received a high-ranking delegation from the United States.
Deputy Premier Talabani welcomed US Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf and her accompanying delegation, including the US Ambassador to Iraq and the Consul General in Erbil.
During the meeting, Deputy Premier Talabani and the senior US delegation highlighted Kurdistan Region’s internal issues, according to a statement.
“We welcome any initiatives to resolve the Kurdistan Region’s internal issues,” Deputy Premier told the delegation, a statement released by his press office read.
The Deputy Premier also stressed that “the disputes threaten the Kurdistan Region entity,” noting “We should all make efforts to responsibly resolve them.”
The statement further added that Talabani expressed willingness to form a joint committee to put an end to the internal issues in the Region.
“We are ready to form a joint committee on the disputed points with the participation of the representatives of the foreign, friends, and ally countries,” He said.
