PUK President chairs senior security meeting related to Kurdistan, Iraq

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani chaired a senior security meeting related to Kurdistan and Iraq via a video conference on Wednesday, his office said.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Protection and Information/Information Agency, The Head of the Kurdistan Region Security Service, the Director General of the Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG), and the Deputy Commander of the Kurdistan Commandos forces.

“The security situation of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, measures to combat terrorism, and reorganization of the Peshmerga forces were the meeting’s topics,” Talabani’s office said in a statement.

“Protecting the Kurdistan Region stability and the safety of its people is your duty, consequently, enduring coordination and joint activities between the security institutions are key factors to safeguard the national and public interests,” Talabani said, according to the statement.

“Our people’s lives and tranquility are a redline,” The President stressed.

He also tasked the related security authorities to go against any “lawbreaking as well as any plots that aim to spread disarray.”
