SULAIMANI (ESTA) — At least two persons were injured in Wednesday’s early hours after two assailants had launched a gun attack on Sulaimani Pediatric hospital.
Earlier last night two individuals attempted to enter Jamal Ahmed Rashid pediatric hospital at around 11:00 P.M. local time, said the Director of the hospital, Pshdar Abdullah.
The individuals sought to visit a patient whom they know, however, they were stopped by the hospital’s guards.
“It was against the instructions to make a visit at such a late time,” Abdullah added.
“The individuals eventually engaged in a quarrel with the guards. They have initially left the scene but returned hours later at 3:00 A.M. in the morning,” according to Abdullah’s words.
“They opened fire at the hospital when they returned, injuring a guard and a recipient employee,” He noted.
Subsequently, the Directorate of the Sulaimani Police announced it had arrested two assailants in connection two the incident immediately.
Police further stated it had seized a pistol with which the attack was carried out, according to a statement.
“The injured are under medical care and they are in stable health conditions,” it added.
