SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Agreement with Baghdad had been always the “best” option, and today this idea has ultimately prevailed, said the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on Tuesday following the Erbil-Baghdad agreement which was signed earlier today.
The PUK official media released a statement regarding the agreement that was signed between Erbil and Baghdad on the Kurdish crude issue.
Iraq’s Federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) signed a final deal to restart Kurdish oil exports. The Kurdish oil exports via Turkey have been recently stopped following an arbitration ruling in favor of Iraq.
Kurdish and Iraqi governments have been at odds for nearly two decades over the oil and gas issue.
The PUK stated “It’s been a long time since the PUK sought this constitutional option which is an agreement with Baghdad,” the statement said.
“Ultimately, this idea has prevailed over heedlessness and recklessness,” the statement added.
