Gas stations in Sulaimani announce further reductions in fuel prices

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Gasoline and Diesel prices dropped again by 25 to 50 Iraqi dinars ($0.034) per liter in Sulaimani province on Monday.

Bahman Abdulla, the spokesperson for Sulaimani gas stations confirmed the reduction in fuel prices for Esta Media Network.

The latest reduction in fuel prices was last Monday with a similar range.

Abdulla indicated that “the price of a liter of gasoline for the regular type will become 925 dinars instead of 975 dinars, the special 1125 dinars instead of 1175 dinars, the supreme 1225 dinars instead of 1250 dinars, and 550 dinars for gas per liter instead of 600 dinars.”

Last week, Abdulla said that the reduction in fuel prices is due to the current market status in which there is high supply and low demand.

Fuel prices have hit records high in the Kurdistan Region since there is instability in the world’s energy market following the all-out Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022.

Though the Kurdistan Region is one of the largest producers of oil and processed petroleum products, however, the Region is still importing fuel which is partly because it suffers from the lack of local refineries to produce fuel for the local need.
