SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani extended his congratulations on the occasion of Newroz to all citizens across Kurdistan on Monday.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to all Kurdistan people,” Talabani said in a statement.
“I hope this occasion to be the opportunity to deepen the spirit of harmony,” Talabani said, also urging everyone to work with a Kurdish spirit for the sake of Kurdistan.
Moreover, Talabani stated that the PUK is “keen to develop the relations and expand coordination with all political parties.”
”We welcome any initiatives and efforts that serve our people,” he said.
“We are ready for a national and constructive dialogue and we will be responsible for this national and historical duty,” Talabani stressed, according to the statement.
“We have a firm and unwavering belief in unity. It is the only way through which we can achieve the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people and build a bright future.”
Newroz falls on March 21 marks the arrival of spring and the new year in Kurdish culture. It is one of the key celebrations in the Kurdistan Region. People will wear traditional Kurdish clothes and go on picnics where they celebrate the occasion with eating foods and dancing.
