SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi President Latif Rashid on Monday received Italian Ambassador to Iraq Maurizio Greganti at the presidential palace, discussing enhancing the ties between the two countries.
The President’s office in a statement revealed that Rashid and the Italian diplomat stressed the importance of strengthening Iraq-Italy ties, working toward promoting bilateral cooperation in addition to fostering investment, in a way that would be in both nations’ interests.
The meeting’s agenda included a discussion of the upcoming visit of the Iraqi President to Italy, following an invitation extended by Italian President Sergio Mattarella to President Rashid to visit Italy.
The visit is considered the first state visit to Italy, the office added in the statement.
Meanwhile, in return, the Italian Ambassador emphasized his country’s eagerness to further develop relations and expand cooperation with Iraq, at every level in a way that most serves the two nations’ interests.
He also stated that a major exhibition will be organized in coordination with the Iraqi counterpart on the ancient Mesopotamia civilization.
