SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Former Iraqi President Barham Salih on Thursday discussed the general situation of Iraq with Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani.
The Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported that Prime Minister Sudani met with former president Salih.
“They discussed the general situation at the national level and the government’s endeavors in reform and development,” INA cited a statement from Sudani’s office as saying.
The two sides also “reviewed the government’s steps to implement the ministerial program in terms of the primary set goals,” the statement added.
Salih held the presidential office of Iraq from 2018 until 2022. However, following the Iraqi general elections on October 2021, Salih lost his re-election to Abdul Latif Rashid in parliament’s voting on October 2022 after a year of prolonged political deadlock.
