SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council on Tuesday announced that Bafel Talabani is the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), upholding that all of the measures are legal.
The Supreme Judicial Council ruled on the Lahur Jangi suit that Talabani is the President of the PUK and it’s non-appealable, said Talabani’s legal team in a statement.
“The verdict has been issued is in the interest of the PUK President and it cannot be appealed,” the statement said.
On Monday, the PUK leadership council said “Any interference in internal affairs of the PUK is a red line,” it said in a statement, adding “Only the PUK leadership council is the relevant party in deciding on internal affairs.”
“If there is such an attempt, we will take political and legal steps.”
