Senior delegation from Chinese Communist Party visits Mam Jalal Talabani’s tomb

A senior delegation from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), paid a visit to the tomb of former Secretary-General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Feb. 14, 2023.

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A senior delegation from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), paid a visit to the tomb of former Secretary-General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Mam Jalal Talabani in Sulaimani on Tuesday. 

The Chinese delegation was headed by Zhu Rui, the Assistant Minister of the International Department of the Communist Central Committee, Cui Wei, the Ambassador of China to Iraq, and Liu Zhenyong Consul of China to Erbil as well as a number of top Chinese officials.

After the delegation laid a wreath on late leader Mam Jalal’s tomb they wrote a note of condolence, paying respect to the Kurdish leader.

President Mam Jalal died on October 3, 2017, in Germany.

Moreover, The Chinese delegation had later received by the PUK President, Bafel Talabani, according to a statement from Talabani’s office.

The Chinese delegation and Talabani discussed the Kurdistan Region and Iraq situation and bilateral relations, stressing continued coordination and assistance, particularly in politics, economy, and culture, in a manner that serves Kurdistan’s development.

Moreover, Talabani reiterated PUK’s eagerness to bolster Kurdistan-CCP as well as PUK-CCP relations, saying “The foundation of this strong relationship has been built by the former Secretary-General of the PUK, late President Mam Jalal,” adding that they will sustain the relationship.

In the meantime, the Chinese delegation stressed deepening the relations and further support to develop the Kurdistan Region in various fields, according to the statement.
