Russian Foreign Minister visits Iraq including Kurdistan Region

SULAIMANI (ESTA) —  Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to visit Baghdad on Sunday and meet with senior Iraqi officials.

Headed by the top Russian diplomat, a high-level delegation is set to arrive in the Iraqi capital where they meet with the Iraqi President, Prime Minister, and parliamentary speaker.

In the meantime, the spokesperson of the Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs confirmed Lavrov’s visit, adding “both sides [Russia and Iraq] will discuss several issues on the bilateral relations.”

The Russian delegation consists of representatives from various Russian firms, including energy.

Lavrov’s two-day visit schedule is also supposed to include meetings with Kurdish officials in the Kurdistan Region capital, Erbil.
