KRG deputy prime minister meets with president of Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council

SULAIMANI (ESTA) —  The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) deputy prime minister, Qubad Talabani, on Tuesday met with the President of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan.

Talabani who is in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad had earlier met with several senior Iraqi officials amid a new round of talks over Kurdistan-Baghdad outstanding issues.

In his visit, the office of the KRG deputy prime minister revealed that Talabani met with Zaidan, discussing the judicial situation in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, it said in a statement.

The office also added that the pair have also touched upon the legal issues between the KRG and the Federal government.

Moreover, the Iraqi minister of Justice, Khalid Shwani joined the meeting well, where the KRG deputy prime minister stressed a comprehensive and long-lasting agreement in accordance with the constitution regarding Kurdistan-Baghdad relations.

Talabani had also earlier in a separate statement announced that “the first and last option before the KRG and the Federal government is a comprehensive and long-lasting agreement in accordance with the constitution.”

“The agreement must be in the interest of all Iraqi and Kurdish citizens,” he added.
