Deputy Prime Minister, Commander of Coalition Forces: ‘no situation should affect reforms within Peshmerga’

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Deputy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) prime minister, Qubad Talabani, the commander of anti-ISIS Operation Inherent Resolve, Maj. Gen. Matthew McFarlane met on Sunday.

Talabani revealed that he welcomed a delegation of the U.S. military head by Maj. Gen. McFarlane, where he was also accompanied by the U.S. deputy consul general in the Kurdistan Region.

He also stated that the U.S. has had a significant role in steps of reforms within the Ministry of Peshmerga as well as the restructuring of the forces.

Moreover, the deputy prime minister told the U.S. delegation that the Kurdistan Region needs its consultant to possess much more organized and trained forces.

In the meantime, both sides stressed that no situation should affect the reforms within the Peshmerga forces.
