PUK President receives Iraqi Minister of Defense in Baghdad

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President, Bafel Talabani, received Thabet Muhammed Al-Abasi, the Iraqi Minister of Defense, on Tuesday in Baghdad.

Talabani welcomed the Minister at Mam Jala palace in the Iraqi capital, according to the PUK president’s media office.

In a meeting, which was also attended by Khalid Shwani, a member of the PUK politburo, and Harem Kamal Agha, a member of the PUK leadership, the two sides discussed the security situation of the country.

Moreover, they discussed the security situation of the disputed territories, combating terror, and further enhancing the joint military rooms.

They laid emphasis on expanding the military and intelligence coordination for the sake of protecting stability.

In the meantime, the PUK President commended the national forces, endeavoring to protect the people’s lives, the office in a statement said.

“Expanding coordinations are an important factor to protect tranquility which makes us able to prevent any will that seeks to disrupt the stability of our country,” The PUK president said, according to the statement.
