Kurdistan Region’s COVID-19 cases pass 100,000: health ministry

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s coronavirus cases shot past 100,000 on Saturday, the ministry of health said in a statement.

The Region’s health ministry said it had recorded 183 new COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 100,129.

Four cases were recorded in Erbil, 27 in Sulaimani, 133 in Duhok, two in Halabja and 17 in Garmian, the ministry stated.

Nine more patients had died from the virus in the previous 24 hours, while 359 others had recovered, it added.

The ministry further said three deaths were in Erbil, four in Sulaimani and two others in Duhok.

The Region’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 3,282, while the total number of recoveries reached 64,431, according to the health ministry.
