SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) said it arrested two wanted terrorists in Kirkuk on Tuesday in cooperation with the Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG).
Iraq’s ICTS and Kurdistan’s CTG have arrested two Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists, following separate operations, according to a statement from ICTS.
It further added that “Our heroes found a cache of ammunition in the (Wadi Al-Salam) cemetery in Al-Najaf.”
The statement did not provide further specifications.
ISIS controlled roughly a third of Iraq between 2014 and 2017.
Iraqi forces and Kurdish troops backed by U.S.-led Coalition forces as well as Iran-backed Shia militias defeated the militant group in 2017, but its members still roam areas of northern Iraq and northeastern Syria.
Moreover, on Saturday, Iraqi military intelligence said it arrested an Islamic State (ISIS) female official in Kirkuk province.
