SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The directorate of parks on Saturday revealed that the green Space in the city of Sulaimani has reached 19.6%.
According to data obtained by Sulaimani directorate of parks, the green space of the city has reached 19.6% which corresponds to 12,780,000 million squares.
Since 1991 the Green space in the city has tripled, the data have shown.
Attempts to green the Kurdistan Region have considerably increased during 2022, particularly in Sulaimani province. Local authorities in December announced a national campaign of planting one million trees.
The campaign came after a recommendation made by Bafel Talabani, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President, aiming at reducing the climate change effects.
