PUK President says ‘concerned’ over armed attack on Kurdish diaspora in Paris

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani has expressed grave concerns over Friday’s armed attack on Kurdish diaspora in Paris.

“I’m deeply concerned over the Paris incident and attacking Kurdish diaspora, my deepest sympathies go out to the victims of the attack and our hearts with their families.”

A man on Friday fired multiple gunshots on a Kurdish cultural center in Paris, killing three Kurdish people and injuring three others.

The incident took place in Rue d’Enghien street where a number of Kurdish shops and Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Centre are located.

Following the incident, French President Emmanuel Macron said “The Kurds of France have been the target of a heinous attack in the heart of Paris,” according to a tweet.

Talabani praised the response of Macron and the official institutions of France toward the incident, while also calling for the implementation of “justice” immediately.
