Suspected Turkish warplanes bombard village in Sulaimani

Smoke rises after Turkish warplanes bomb as a vehicle carrying four people in Kanilan village in Sulaimani province, June 13, 2021.

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A village in Sulaimani’s Sharbazher area was bombarded by suspected Turkish warplanes late Friday night, according to a local official.

The Mayor of Chwarta Sub-district in the area, Shaho Osman told Esta that the warplanes attacked targets near Spidar village, without resulting in any casualties.

However, the attack caused panic and fear among the local civilians, according to the official.

It wasn’t clear who carried out the attack, but Turkey intermittently targets suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region.

It was also unknown whether the PKK owns positions inside the village or not, but it is believed that it has positions in the village’s mountainous areas.
