SULAIMANI (ESTA) — China’s President Xi Jinping will be in Saudi Arabia from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9 on an official visit to the kingdom of Saud Arabia.
The official press agency of Saudi Arabia (SPA) on Tuesday reported that the Chinese President will be in the Kingdom to attend a Chinese-Saudi summit.
Xi’s visit comes at a time when U.S.-Saudi ties are at a nadir.
In the meantime, uncertainty weighs on global energy markets with the West imposing a price cap on Russian oil, and as Washington warily eyes China’s growing influence in the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia is deepening economies ties to China. It is China’s top oil supplier, although fellow OPEC+ producer Russia has increased its Chinese market share with lower-priced fuel.
