SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Turkish Military base in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh have been targeted with several rockets late Saturday night without inflicting casualties.
At least four rockets were fired in the direction of Zilkan Military base which hosts Turkish troops.
The rockets were land outside of the base and failed to make an impact or hit their target, according to Iraqi Media.
There was an immediate claim for the attack by a Shiite militia group.
The Islamic Resistance-Ahar al-Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, adding that they targeted the base of “Turkish occupiers” with four 122mm Grad rockets.
Zilkan Military base has been repeatedly targeted in the last few months, but such an attack marked the first since the new cabinet of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani took office in late October.
