President Barzani arrives in Baghdad

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday for talks on relations between Erbil and Baghdad, a statement said. 

President Barzani has just arrived in the Iraqi capital for a visit to meet with Iraqi officials, discussing the political situation and Erbil-Baghdad’s outstanding issues with steps to resolve them with the Iraqi officials.

Presidency of the Kurdistan Region in a statement said that Barzani initially met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani.

Discussions stressed a “united stance” on the national level as well as unity and coordination to face the challenges of the economy, and issues relating to people’s livelihood, aiming at providing a better life for the people, the statement said.

Moreover, PM Sudani reiterated that the Federal government abides by the constitution to resolve the outstanding issues with the Kurdistan Region Government, in a manner of “securing all components rights.”

for his part, President Barzani has renewed congratulations for PM Sudani that recently gained confidence, voicing optimism for the abilities of the new government in transforming government to a different phase inside which the “language of understanding would be dominant.”

The officials have also discussed the security situation of the Iraqi bordering areas and cooperation to protect Iraq’s sovereignty, refusing the repeated violations, and working to not let Iraq be a source of threat for any neighboring countries, according to the statement.
