Iraq’s Halbousi calls on security forces to find perpetrators attacked MP in Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Speaker of Iraqi Council of Representatives Mohammed al-Halbousi on Monday called on security forces in the Kurdistan Region to find perpetrators who attacked lawmaker Ghalib Mohammed in Sulaimani city.

Mohammed who resides in Sulaimani city was stabbed by a person in face and head with knife by a man outside his home on Friday evening.

The Iraqi parliament’s speaker condemned the attack and called on the security services in the Region to “identify perpetrators and bring them to justice”, according to a statement by Halbousi’s office.

Spokesman of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Jotiar Adil said the government “strongly” condemned the attack, adding that the security forces were directed to find perpetrators and bring them to justice as soon as possible.

KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani said he directed the security forces to bring the perpetrators to justice.
