PUK President emphasizes ‘newest’, ‘scientific’ military approaches to train Peshmerga

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani visited Command Forces 70 Headquarters on Monday where he was welcomed by senior military officials. 

Situated in Sulaimani, the Headquarters hosted President Talabani where he met 70 forces Chief of staff along with the Director of the Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG), a readout said.

Attended by the Director of the Kurdistan Region’s Protection and Information/Information agency, in the meeting the officials discussed the latest security and military developments in depth with the unification of the Peshmerga forces as well as succeeding the “national” steps.

Importantly speaking about the unification within Peshmerga forces, President Talabani said that “all of us must support that national steps, and accomplish them successfully.”

“We must build national solid forces corresponding to the level of the Peshmerga’s historical struggles and sacrifices,” and “be the protector of Kurdistan and its lovely people.”

Moreover, Talabani commended the Peshmerga forces’ endeavors since they have continued their military training and services with a national spirit for the sake of enhancing their military capabilities.

He also tasked the commanders to follow the “newest ” and “scientific” military approaches in these processes in order to make forces able to persist or prepare for any developments, according to the readout.
