SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Shiite Cleric Muqtada al-Sadr sent a message to Esmail Qaani, commander of Iran’s paramilitary Quds Force on Sunday saying, “We are ready to coordinate, give up on arbitrary bombing,” according to Iraqi media.

In a message, Influential Iraqi Shiite cleric Sadr told Qaani, commander of Iran’s Quds Force, “Iraq is committed to preventing its sky and land to be not used as a base to attack your country.”

“We were hoped that you also have commitments, but your noncommitments will be a door for others to assault Iraq under variation justifications,” Sadr quoted.

He also warned that if they remain silent about the bombings it will give pretexts to others to do so, Sadr said without specifying who is “others”.

“Despite this, Iraq is an independent country like Iran, targeting enemy on Iraq’s territory is not like this rather it must be done through international applicable diplomatic efforts,” he added in the message.

Sadr showed their total commitment to coordinate with Iran for discussions.

“We are ready to shut down all enemy’s bases, those that target Iran, in return Iran shall give up on arbitrary non-coordinated bombings,” he continued

Iran’s paramilitary Quds Force is part of the Revolutionary Guard and answerable only to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It supervises dozens of Shiite proxies in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.

In 2019 the United States of America during the Donald Trumps administration, the Department of State has recognized IRGC including Quds Forces as a foreign terrorist group.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps were heavily bombarded Iranian-Kurdish opposition bases in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on Sept. 28.

Thirteen people were killed and 58 wounded, according to Iraq’s state news agency.

“This operation will continue with our full determination until the threat is effectively repelled, terrorist groups’ bases are dismantled, and the authorities of the Kurdish region assume their obligations and responsibilities,” the IRGC said in a statement read on state television.

IRGC pounded a military camp, homes, offices, and other areas with “precision missiles” and a “suicide drone” in the Region during that attack.

Since then Iran has increased its attacks, and repeatedly conducted them, particularly targeting the border areas of the Kurdistan Region.
