Kurdistan’s information agency releases statement over Erbil’s car blast

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s Protection and Information/Information Agency released a statement over Erbil’s car explosion on Friday, demanding the Region’s security forces to be “precise” in the investigations and reveal the truth of the incident for the public. 

“On October, 7 Friday afternoon amid an unwanted incident the car of Colonel Hawker Abdulla [Hawkar Jaf] has been targeted, and unfortunately he was martyred,” the statement said.

“Martyr Abdulla has been previously in official duty, he played a prominent role in the Kurdistan Region Counter-Terrorism Forces, security filed and served the Region’s security and tranquility,” it said.

“Despite our sorrow, we extend deepest condolences to his struggler family, hope for the speedy recovery of the injured persons,” it added.

“We call on the Region’s security forces to be precise in the investigations and reveal the suspects and the truthfulness of the incident for the public and bring them to justice and punish them,” it continued.

At approximately 1300 local time an explosive device attached to the bottom of the car detonated Abdulla’s car in Erbil a few blocks away from his house while on his way to home with his family.

The explosion resulted in Abdulla’s death and injured two of his children with his wife and sister, local officials confirmed the detail.
