ICTS killed 232 terrorists in two years, says senior military official

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — During the past two years, 232 terrorists have been killed in Iraq by the security forces and 647 have been detained, according to the Head of the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) on Thursday.

Speaking at the al-Rafidain forum in Baghdad Head of the Iraqi ICTS Colonel General Abdul-Wahab al-Saadi told the attendances that during the past two years 232 terrorists have been killed.

Al-Saadi also referred to the U.S.-led coalition forces’ assistance which they offered to the Iraqi forces, saying, they have conducted at least 710 airstrikes against the terrorists’ positions.

“Out of 710 airstrikes, 500 of them were hit the targets,” He said. “647 terrorists have been detained.”

Al-Saadi pointed out the Kurdistan Region as well during his remarks, adding that they detained 70 terrorists in the Region who have held forged identities, but in coordination with forces in the Kurdistan Region.

Security coordination between the Iraqi forces and the Kurdistan Region forces was poor in the past but currently, it’s at its “best” level, according to al-Saadi’s words.

“ICTS in the past occupied the 17th place in the world rankings, but now it took the second place,” the Colene General said.

He also stressed that they would not allow any officials to interfere in their works, “We have our own five years strategy that has been accepted by the council of ministers,” al-Saadi continued.
