PUK President meets Head of al-Fatah alliance, Chairman of PMF in Baghdad

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani arrived in the Iraqi capital on Monday and met with the Head of the al Fatah alliance and the Chairman of the Popular Mobilization forces (PMF) separately.

PUK President’s visit to the capital was followed by a meeting with President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Masoud Barzani in Erbil, hours later Talabani unexpectedly landed in Baghdad.

In a statement Talabani’s office said that he met with Head of the al-Fatah alliance Hadi al-Amiri, and they discussed political situations, passing the obstacles and steps to pass the political dilemma that grasped Iraq.

Talabani emphasized discussion and national agreement on the basis of the constitution and real partnership, saying, “Iraq is going through a sensitive political situation, it’s the duty of all sides to treat with a responsible spirit and work to build a more stable future.”

A Day after, on Tuesday Talabani met Chairman of the PMF Faleh al-Fayadh, he was companied by members of the PUK politburo, Shalaw Kosrat Rasul and Khalid Shwani.

The meeting discussed the latest political and security developments, efforts to resolve the issues in front of the political process, and minimizing the tensions, according to the PUK President’s Office.

“President Talabani stressed peace establishment as well as stability, demanding the parties to play leniency and compromise on their requests, because people’s livelihood is the priority and all steps must be in that direction,” Talabani’s office in a statement said concerning his meeting with the Chairman of the PMF.
