Sulaimani’s public libraries receive most visitors across Kurdistan Region

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Libraries in Sulaimani received the most visitors across the Kurdistan Region this year, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of culture and youth on Thursday said.

The Ministry released a statement saying that according to a statistic from the general directorate of the public libraries 28,539 visitors have been recorded in the public libraries across the Kurdistan Region.

“Out of the recorded number, 14,052 were recorded in the public libraries of Sulaimani,” it said.

The Ministry also said that the registered record represents the numbers that have been counted since the beginning of 2022.

937 books have been submitted to the Ministry in 2022 to get printing permission of which 857 of them were recorded in Erbil, “taking the first place in terms of submission”.

At least 858,951 books are already presented throughout all of the public libraries of the Kurdistan Region in various languages, readers and researchers can take advantage of them, according to the Ministry.
