SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The University of Sulaimani has launched a one-week campaign to plant trees around the campus, organizers said on Sunday.

The campaign under the name “A Green Embrace for the University” is within the framework of Bologna Process been taught at the university for years.

Head of Bologna Process at the university of Sulaimani Rezhin Harun said the first-year students study a lesson called “Work Environment of University” every year, aiming to educate the students on volunteering and environment.

“The places inside the campus that need to be greened are targeted after they were chosen by the university,” Harun was quoted as saying by the university’s website.

The campaign, started in 2019, is the third of its kind.

“This year’s campaign is named A Green Embrace for the University because we wanted to create a fence of trees in the back side of the campus,” Harun said.

Dozens of trees are expected to be planted during the campaign that lasts for a week.
