SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdish prominent politician and former secretary of Iraqi Community Party Bahadin Nuri died at the age of 93 from COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Nuri had been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus for nearly ten days and he was moved to intensive care at a hospital in Sulaimani, according to his family.

He was born in 1927 in Takiya village in Qaradagh area in south of Sulaimani city. He was the secretary of Iraqi Communist Party for four years from 1949 to 1953. He returned to the Kurdistan Region in 1984.

He wrote a book, titled memories of Bahadin Nuri, in 2018. His book was only printed in Sulaimani after authorities in Erbil banned the book from being printed.
