SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Senior citizen retiree died whilst waiting in queue to receive his salary on Sunday in Erbil, according to officials.
Local officials told the reporters in Erbil that a Senior citizen retiree died in a queue waiting to receive his salary outside of Qala bank under the extreme heat of summer.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is behind paying the salaries of retirees. Despite a rise in oil prices, retirees suffer from delays in receiving their payments.
Erbil’s bank scene is followed by similar incidents in different provinces of the Kurdistan Region where the retirees struggle to get their salaries.
Earlier in March, Director of Sulaimani’s Emergency Center Saman Nadr told Esta Media Network that a retired man, 81, who was waiting in a queue outside the bank died.
