Senior Italian military delegation visits CTG General Directorate

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A senior Italian military delegation from the U.S.-led collation forces visited the General Directorate of the Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) in Sulaimani on Thursday.

The General Director of the CTG forces, Wahab Halabjai, received a high-level Italian military delegation at the Directorate where he extended words of gratitude to the delegation, a press release said.

Halabjai thanked  Colonel Orlando Mattia, Commander of the Italian Special Forces in Iraq, and Captain Davida Tiano, Commander of the Italian Special Operations team for their efforts in the past who also trained the forces including the Peshmerga forces.

The military officials have also discussed the security and military developments, stressing bolstering the ties between the CTG forces and the Italian Special Forces, particularly in terms of training.

In the meantime, CTG Director congratulated the new team of the Italian forces for commencing their duty, reiterating support for the foreign military force, according to the press release.
