Iraqi Prime Minister invites parties to sit on dialogue table

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq faces serious political unrest, It has a dangerous outcome if wises cease to intervene said the Iraqi Prime Minister on Monday in a message on the ongoing protests in Baghdad.   

Iraqi Prime Minster Mustafa al-Kadhimi in the message demanded all parties to stay calm and reduce the tensions, in order to launch an initiative for a solution on a national basis, the Iraqi news agency reported.

“Prime minister invited all parties to sit on the national dialogue table to reach a political solution for the political crises,” PM’s message said.

Regarding to ongoing protests in Baghdad in which the supporters of Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr have breached the parliament building and continued to sit-in since early Saturday, Kadhimi said that the political forces shall take the national as well as legal responsibility.

PM Kadhimi who is also the commander-in-chief of all Iraqi armed forces has exposed the main request amid the message saying, the protesters must coordinate with the security forces and respect the state’s institutions.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced his support for the initiative of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi regarding the political events in Iraq, INA cited a tweet as saying.

“I am deeply concerned about the situation in Iraq,” Macron said in a tweet on his Twitter account.

He also reaffirmed his support for PM kadhimi’s initiative calling for dialogue and consultation in response to the demands of the Iraqis.
